Nigerian singer Johnny Drille has opened up about how he met his wife, Rima Tahini, during his time at Mavin Records.
Drille disclosed that his relationship with Tahini began in late 2018, when she was working with Mavin Records. According to the singer, their romance started around November or December of that year.
Speaking during an interview with Music Moments, Drille said Mavin Records and its founder, Don Jazzy, played an important role in creating the environment that brought him and his wife together.
The singer revealed that he and Tahini deliberately kept their relationship private for several years before it became public knowledge.
He said they had been together for about five years before fans learned about their relationship in July 2023. By then, the couple had already been married for more than a year.
Drille explained that maintaining such a private relationship was difficult but said he was grateful they were able to keep it away from public attention for so long.
“I met my wife at Mavin. I think about it now and how much work we had to put into keeping it under wraps for so long,” he said.
“We started dating in November/December 2018, and the rest of the world got to know in July 2023. And that’s probably five years after, and by then, we had already gotten married. It wasn’t easy keeping it under wraps, but I am grateful.”
Tahini previously served as the Director of A&R at Mavin Records.
The couple have since welcomed their first child, Amaris Esohe Ighodaro.
