Governor Dikko Radda has announced the expansion of Katsina State’s automatic employment policy to include all indigenes of the state who graduate with first-class degrees from higher institutions across Nigeria.

The governor made the announcement on Sunday during the grand finale and award presentation of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University Kano.

Radda explained that the initiative is aimed at attracting some of the brightest and most talented graduates into the state civil service to enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery in the years ahead.

According to him, the policy was initially introduced for first-class graduates from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University and other institutions located within Katsina State. However, the government has now decided to extend the opportunity to all Katsina indigenes who earn first-class degrees from any accredited institution across the country from this year onward.

The governor noted that the decision was a strategic move to strengthen the state’s workforce by recruiting highly skilled graduates capable of transforming public service.

He expressed confidence that sustained recruitment of top-performing graduates would position Katsina as one of the states with the most effective and competitive civil services in Nigeria within the next decade. He added that the state’s public service could eventually rival even some federal institutions in terms of quality and performance.

Radda also highlighted his administration’s commitment to education, revealing that the government has cleared outstanding scholarship obligations and increased bursary allowances for students. He said these measures were designed to encourage academic excellence and ensure that more young people remain in school.

The governor stated that the government’s investments in education have helped reduce the number of out-of-school children across the state while also preventing many youths from engaging in social vices.

Reaffirming education as a key pillar of his administration, Radda disclosed that a significant portion of the state budget continues to be allocated to the sector. He added that the government has recruited more than 10,000 teachers, built new schools, and rehabilitated educational facilities across Katsina.

He urged students to remain focused on their studies, strive for academic excellence, and contribute positively to the development of the state.

Radda further said the achievements and academic successes of Katsina students have made him proud both as a citizen and as governor of the state.

Also speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Haruna Musa-Muhammad, praised the governor for his student-friendly policies.

He commended the upward review of the state scholarship scheme and expressed the university’s willingness to collaborate with the Katsina State Government in advancing educational development.

Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Muhammad Nagaske, said the Students’ Week was organized to promote academic excellence, strengthen collaboration among students, encourage cultural exchange, and identify talents from various institutions.
