Lagos State Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh has initiated a formal investigation into sexual misconduct allegations involving Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries.
The investigation was launched after multiple accusations surfaced on social media from several women, including actress Doris Ogala.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed Sunday that the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti has taken charge of the case.
“The Commissioner has instructed SCID to summon the pastor for questioning, even though no formal complaint has been filed at any station,” Hundeyin stated.
He noted that alleged victims and potential witnesses would be contacted to provide testimony during the investigation.
QEDNG previously reported that Pastor Okafor temporarily withdrew from his ministerial responsibilities on New Year’s Day as the allegations intensified.
The controversy erupted following Okafor’s marriage to his new wife, Pearl, on December 16, 2025, a ceremony attended by numerous religious leaders.
On December 28, Okafor issued a public apology to Ogala during a church service, kneeling at the pulpit while acknowledging “previous indiscretions” and requesting forgiveness.
The scandal began on December 14 when Ogala posted Instagram videos alleging a nine-year involvement with the pastor starting in 2017. She claimed he had promised to marry her, exchanged inappropriate material, and played a role in her marital separation.
In subsequent posts, Ogala alleged the pastor offered her $10,000 to withdraw her accusations and implicate another religious leader instead. She later issued a legal demand for N1 billion in compensation, citing harassment and coercion after being arrested and held in custody.
Additional allegations have since emerged from other women, including Okafor’s ex-wife, Bessem Okafor, who made claims of unfaithfulness, dishonesty, and domestic violence.
However, some church members have rejected these accusations in statements to Saturday Punch, characterizing them as financially motivated attacks against the pastor.
Hundeyin revealed that police have reached out to a YouTuber who interviewed some accusers to facilitate contact with witnesses.
“The Commissioner has also mandated that witnesses come forward to give official statements,” he added.
Authorities have pledged to pursue the investigation thoroughly and are calling on all relevant parties to assist with inquiries.
