Licensed Electrical contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) Ibafo Chapter , Ogun State Nigeria has inaugurated its new executives that will run the affairs of the association for the next 3 years.
Moreso, the association launched its monitoring team that will supervise the activities of its practitioners in Ibafo and environs. Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to practitioners to get their license before embarking on fixing electrical faults anywhere in the country.

Speaking at the general meeting, the secretary of the association Engr.Ayotumbo Adeyemi, urged the practitioners to be steadfast, honest and diligent in the pursuit of their duties. He appealed to the monitoring team to get to work saying they have been given all the backings needed to perform .He said it was high time quackery was eliminated in the profession.

He added that under no circumstances should a LECAN member reconnect the power of a defaulter who has been disconnected by IBEDC. He said, LECAN members must always seek approval from IBEDC before embarking on any kind of reconnection. Furthermore, he admonished LECAN members to always challenge any electrician who has embarked on any project to show his license.
On the relationship between LECAN and IBEDC , Engr.Adeyemi said that both bodies work together, he said IBEDC is to supply electricity whilst LECAN are engaged in wiring and fixing of electricity in the community.
Similarly, Engineer Mike Abiodun has urged the electrical practitioners to be prudent and a worthy member of the association. He appealed to them to always pay their dues as and when due and be punctual at meetings.

Engineer Adebowale Kehinde asked the LECAN committee to look into the affairs of illegal cable imported into the country, saying that its importation has caused more harm than good in the country. He added that many fire and death have occurred as a result of using sub-standard cable in the wiring of houses.
However, the new executives of LECAN Ibafo chapter took oath of office at the swearing –in –ceremony held at the LECAN Secretariat in Ibafo.
