In a press statement, Dr. Funmilola Tella, Chairman of the Board, extended her heartfelt condolences to the late journalist’s family, friends, and colleagues in the media industry.

Dr Tella further highlighted increasing concerns about emergency medical care in Nigeria.
According to her, amid reports that accident victims are often asked to present identification before receiving urgent treatment, the authorities should waste no time in implementing key reforms that would get rid of such life-threatening protocols.
She insisted that protocols that risk the lives of Nigerians in need of emergency treatment must be reviewed to avoid a recurrence of preventable deaths.
“This is a practice that puts lives at risk. We urge relevant agencies to prioritize reforms that ensure life-saving care is provided without unnecessary barriers,” she added.
Stressing that Sommie’s demise emphasizes the need for urgent and accessible emergency healthcare services, Funmilola Tella revealed that the deceased will not just be remembered for her journalistic integrity but also for her positive impact on society.
