Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has clarified that her portrayal of wicked and troublesome characters in movies was never intended to encourage evil behaviour.
Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, the celebrated actress explained that her goal has always been to spotlight societal problems that are often ignored rather than promote wrongdoing.
According to Ozokwor, many of the issues depicted in films reflect realities that exist within families and communities, but people are often reluctant to discuss them openly. She noted that by taking on such roles, she sought to bring those challenges to public attention and encourage meaningful conversations about them.
The veteran actress said she deliberately used her craft to expose social vices and uncomfortable truths that many would rather keep hidden. She added that the characters she portrayed were designed to mirror real-life situations and help audiences understand the consequences of harmful actions.
Expressing pride in her career and the impact of her performances, Mama G also thanked her supporters for standing by her throughout the years.
“I felt bold enough to expose the ills of society. These things happen, and nobody wants to talk about them, so I chose to bring them to light. I’m extremely proud of myself and grateful to all the Mama G lovers,” she said.
