Veteran actor Babatunde Bamgbode, also known as Baba Fokoko, has denied claims that the president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo, promised Nollywood stars monetary rewards during the 2023 election campaign for President Bola Tinubu. Recall that popular actors like Lalude, Alapini, Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus and Foluke Daramola all campaigned for Tinubu’s presidency in 2023.

Months ago, Alapini came out to express regret over his involvement in Nigerian politics, lamenting that he received nothing in return for his personal campaign after President Tinubu’s victory.

He went as far as accusing MC Oluomo of failing to fulfil what he allegedly promised them during the campaign.

Reacting during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Baba Fokoko vehemently dismissed the claims, saying that MC Oluomo never made such promises to him or his fellow entertainers.

According to him, even though MC Oluomo vowed to treat them well for their efforts, he never made any financial promise.

“He didn’t promise to reward any of us. He didn’t promise me anything, but he had it in mind to treat us well. It’s been more than two years!

He didn’t promise to give anyone anything,” he said.

He further noted that the NURTW did provide foodstuffs during the campaign, which he and his colleagues shared among themselves.

Baba Fokoko concluded by saying that the foodstuffs were mainly meant for Nigerians at the rallies, but the celebrities were allowed to go home with the ones that were left after distribution.

“He brought foodstuffs to us to share during the campaign, and instructed us to distribute the remaining ones among ourselves.

We went home with those foodstuffs more than two times. But he never promised to compensate us after the campaign,” he added.

As of the time of this report, MC Oluomo has yet to react to the allegations levelled against him.
