Joy Raimi, the reigning Miss Osun, has emerged winner of the Miss World Nigeria 2025 pageant.
The grand finale of the beauty contest held on Friday at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, with 37 contestants from different states of the federation vying for the crown.
The contestants showcased elegance in various rounds, including native attire and sportswear.
After multiple stages, 20 finalists were selected, with standouts like Oluwatoyin Ibitoye (Miss Kogi), Shelly Usman (Miss Imo) and Mmesoma Anosike (Miss Adamawa) making it to the top.
In the final round, Raimi battled for the crown against Miss Imo, Miss Ebonyi, Miss Abuja and Miss Abia.
Raimi moved the audience with her response to a question about overcoming bullying.
She shared a personal story about growing up without a mother and facing abuse from her caregiver.
“As a child who grew up without a mother, I was intimidated and harassed by my caregiver who was supposed to stand in as my mother,” she said.
“She told me I would never amount to anything. But I am here today on this world stage doing what I know how to do best. And all I can say is whatever God has destined you to be, nobody can say otherwise.”
Silverbird Group founder, Ben Murray-Bruce, announced Raimi as the winner, applauding her poise and advocacy.
Raimi will go on to represent Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World pageant, scheduled to hold in Hyderabad, India, from May 7 to 31, where she will compete with delegates from 140 countries.
