Popular singer Miley Cyrus has opened up on how her parents’ divorce made life very challenging for her and her siblings.
She recently broke down the very tough decade her family went through after her mum and dad split.
Speaking on the latest episode of Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, Miley shared that half of her family wasn’t speaking to one another at some point during her parents’ on-and-off relationship.
The musician stated that they couldn’t even seek therapy after their eventual divorce because they were just too messy as a family for that.
According to Cyrus, her siblings were too chaotic to attend a counselling session, so she got creative and went the “emotional decluttering” route to bring them together and rebuild communication.
“We’re so messy, we didn’t even do any of that,” she said.
Miley explained that she went as far as waving a white flag before attempting deep conversations, just so they could be ready for it.
Admitting that she felt immense loyalty towards her mother at the time, Miley stated that watching her loved ones ignore the problems while bottling up their emotions was hard.
She, however, concluded by saying that everyone eventually healed from the traumatic experience, and they now open up during tough times.
“I just busted through the pile… ‘I’m here, you’re here, let’s have a good time’… then we were in a better place to talk,” she added.
