The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved the appointment of Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo).
The regulator disclosed this in a public notice issued on Monday, stating that the appointment aligns with the corporate governance code guiding the electricity supply industry.
According to NERC, Adegbenro’s appointment is intended to ensure leadership continuity while the company works towards naming a substantive CEO.
Prior to her new role, Adegbenro served as the deputy CEO of the distribution company. She takes over from Wola Joseph-Condotti, who had been acting in the position since January.
Her emergence follows the resignation of Rekhiat Momoh, who led the company for approximately two years.
The leadership transition also comes months after Transgrid Enerco Limited acquired a 60 percent stake in Eko DisCo in December 2025, marking a significant shift in the company’s ownership structure.
