Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the vice presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has extended warm congratulations to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on receiving the prestigious New Telegraph Newspaper’s Governor of the Year Award in Education for 2024.
In a heartfelt message, Bishop Idahosa praised Governor Yusuf’s transformative leadership in revolutionizing Kano’s education sector, describing the recognition as a testament to the governor’s unwavering commitment to educational excellence.
“Governor Yusuf’s remarkable achievements in education is a testament to the blueprint of human oriented and education policies of the NNPP, it showcases what visionary leadership can accomplish,” Bishop Idahosa stated. “The declaration of a state of emergency in education, coupled with an unprecedented allocation of 29.5% of the state’s budget to education in 2024 and an increased 31% in 2025, demonstrates his administration’s serious commitment to educational reform.”
The NNPP vice presidential candidate particularly commended the governor’s ambitious initiative of sponsoring 1,001 Kano students for postgraduate studies abroad, describing it as a strategic investment in the state’s future leadership and development.
“The comprehensive approach taken by Governor Yusuf’s administration – from massive teacher recruitment to the provision of modern classroom infrastructure and learning materials – sets a new standard for educational development in Nigeria,” Idahosa emphasized.
The award, presented by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, chairman of New Telegraph Newspaper, alongside former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, recognizes the governor’s outstanding contributions to educational advancement in Nigeria.
Bishop Idahosa noted that under Governor Yusuf’s leadership, Kano State has emerged as a beacon of educational progress, implementing policies that directly address the challenges facing the education sector. He highlighted the administration’s focus on both infrastructure development and human capital investment as key factors in this recognition.
“This award not only celebrates Governor Yusuf’s achievements but also validates the NNPP’s commitment to educational excellence and youth empowerment,” Bishop Idahosa concluded. “We are proud to see a governor from our party setting such high standards in educational development.”
