Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo is dead, multiple sources have confirmed, sending shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The actor, according to sources, passed away in a Lagos hospital following a period of illness from kidney cancer. He had been away from the public spotlight for some time before news of his passing emerged.
The news, first disclosed by journalist Samuel Olatunji in a post on Tuesday, has since spread rapidly across social media platforms, with tributes and reactions beginning to pour in from fans and colleagues.
A call to the actor’s close friend and fellow Nollywood star, IK Ogbonna, lent further weight to the tragic development. Ogbonna, who was too distraught to speak at length, did not deny the reports his silence and visible distress speaking volumes in a moment too painful for words.
