Popular Nollywood comic actor and content creator Bamidele Tope Saint, better known as Okemesi, is currently in a coma after suffering serious complications from medication administered during a recent hospital stay.
Fellow actor Jeff Owolewa, known on screen as Tony Montana, broke the news via Instagram on Monday night, revealing that Okemesi had been largely unresponsive since the weekend, sleeping continuously through Saturday and Sunday with little appetite — symptoms linked to drugs given at the time of his discharge the previous week.
According to Owolewa, Okemesi was initially turned away by multiple hospitals, including a government facility in Igodo, before being readmitted to the private hospital that had first treated him. As of Monday morning, he has been placed on oxygen and is said to be in a stabilising condition.
The development comes shortly after Okemesi had publicly appealed for financial help following a period of illness and homelessness. Members of the public had responded by providing him with a new apartment.
Owolewa is now urging Nigerians to pray for the actor and contribute toward the cost of his ongoing medical care.
