Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his residence in Kano State.
Obasanjo was received by Kwankwaso alongside the NDC governorship candidate in Kano, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
The visit was confirmed by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, who described the meeting as cordial and marked by warm exchanges between the political leaders. However, he did not disclose the issues discussed during the closed-door meeting.
Obasanjo and Kwankwaso have maintained a longstanding political relationship dating back to the former governor’s tenure as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second administration from 2003 to 2007.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed claims that Kwankwaso purchased nomination forms from the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed rejected allegations that the former Kano State governor bought 69 nomination forms to take control of the PRP.
He described the claim as false, insisting that Kwankwaso has no official affiliation with the party and therefore could not have purchased any nomination forms. Baba-Ahmed also stated that the individual making the allegation is not a registered member of the PRP.
