Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to Ehime General Hospital in Ehime Mbano, Imo State, to boost ongoing efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery.
During his visit, Obi was received by the Archbishop, David Okechukwu Chikezie Onuoha, alongside members of the clergy and the hospital’s management team. The Archbishop praised Obi for his consistent support for key sectors such as health and education, noting that his contributions continue to make a meaningful difference.
The hospital, recently handed over to the Diocese, is currently being renovated. Plans are also underway to establish a nursing school within the facility to enhance training and improve healthcare services in the area. The Diocese is expected to manage the hospital to ensure more efficient operations and better service delivery to the community.
Speaking during the visit, Obi stressed the importance of investing in healthcare and education, describing both as vital pillars for national development. He noted that a healthy and well-educated population is essential for building a productive society.
He also urged the government to support similar initiatives, highlighting the important role faith-based organisations play in filling gaps in critical public services.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and expand medical training opportunities in Imo State through collaboration between private individuals, religious bodies, and the government.
