The Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has issued a stern warning to those attempting to politicize the activities of the Department of State Services (DSS) through baseless accusations and narratives that could tarnish the reputation of its officers.
In a statement released on Sunday, Olowu refuted circulating news alleging misappropriation of funds by the DSS Director General, Bichi, meant for the N35,000 wage award approved by President Bola Tinubu. He dismissed the claims as not only unfounded but also absurd.
Olowu emphasized that DSS salaries and allowances are distinct, given the essential nature of their services, and cautioned against attempts to sow discord between officers and the DG with false information.
The monarch stressed that the appointment of the DSS DG is solely the President’s prerogative, emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing national security. Oba Makama called for patriotism in addressing the country’s economic challenges and warned those behind the malicious agenda to cease their activities immediately.
Highlighting the DSS’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, Olowu expressed confidence in DG Yusuf Magaji Bichi’s track record. He asserted that the narrative attempting to cast doubt on the DG and the service’s integrity is baseless, as the DSS has consistently received support even before President Tinubu assumed office. The monarch concluded by affirming the high morale and patriotic zeal of the service personnel and officers under DG Bichi’s leadership.
