Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde ,Nollywood star has unveiled the official trailer for her directorial debut, Mother’s Love, a family drama set to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on March 6, 2026.
The actress shared the trailer on Instagram Sunday, describing the film as a story that explores the complex dynamics between mothers and daughters against a backdrop of privilege, survival, and unspoken truths.
“In a world where money defines status and silence defines survival, where grief shapes destinies and control is disguised as protection—two women, one bond, a lifetime of unspoken truths,” Omotola wrote in her post, teasing the film’s central themes.
Beyond directing, Omotola also produced the project and edited the script. The drama follows a character named Adebisi and examines a strained mother-daughter relationship shaped by grief, control, and conflicting personal choices.
The film has already garnered international recognition, earning official selections at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 and the Pan African Film & Arts Festival, both prestigious platforms known for celebrating global and African cinema.
Omotola, a veteran of Nollywood with an extensive acting career, described Mother’s Love as an exploration of family bonds and the emotional costs that come with love and protection. The film asks a pointed question: when the love meant to nurture becomes suffocating, what are you willing to sacrifice?
Mother’s Love opens in cinemas across Nigeria from March 6, 2026.
