The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her home in Owode-Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. Parading the suspects at the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni said the principal suspect confessed that the killings were meant to "teach her a lesson" over poor pay. Ojajuni said a report was received at Owode-Egba Police Station on June 21, 2026, after neighbours noticed the front door of Oyesiku's residence had been partially damaged and the security post locked. Officers who responded found Oyesiku lying in a pool of blood in her living room, while her guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38, was discovered dead inside the security house. A Lexus RX 330 vehicle belonging to the deceased was also missing from the compound. Through intelligence gathering and technical tracking, operatives recovered the vehicle on June 22 at the Onikolobo area of Ogun State. The ignition key had been removed and the number plates detached, but detectives found the registration plate hidden under one of the seats, confirming the vehicle as Oyesiku's property. A handwritten note recovered from the crime scene was subjected to forensic analysis, generating leads that helped trace the suspects. The principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer. During interrogation, Philip allegedly admitted to planning and coordinating the attack after accumulating grievances while working as a security guard in Oyesiku's employment. He told investigators that the killings were motivated by her low salary and her refusal to give him money on demand. He further stated that he recruited Ayoola and Obafunsho to carry out the attack on June 20, 2026. According to police, the suspects first overpowered Adetayo and used him to gain entry into the residence before attacking Oyesiku. A broken hammer, cutlass, plank, and black pen were recovered as exhibits. Ojajuni said investigation is ongoing and that all suspects would be charged in court.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, others to speak at SDNON Summit 2.0

Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria, SDNON, would be holding the second edition of its annual summit on the 28th of October, 2022 at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a statement signed by the organising committee and made available to the media, SDNON Summit 2.0 will be focusing the effect of digital news reporting on national security and the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria.

The former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as the keynote speaker at the event would be addressing the theme ‘Nigeria’s Security Architecture And Digital News Reportage – A Credibility Threshold For A Successful 2023 General Elections’, while the vice presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Bishop Isaac Idahosa, will be the guest speaker.

According to the chairman of the event’s planning committee, Adeniyi Ifetayo, the 2022 edition of the event promises to be an important talking point in the history of the country as far as digital age of news reportage is concerned.

Why Some States Are Experiencing Flood – FG Reveals

“The idea behind SDNON Summit 2.0 is to bring together relevant stakeholders as far as the 2023 general elections is concerned and critical players in the nation’s security apparatus to discuss on the way forward as the media play its role.

“Aside from His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel as the keynote speaker, OGD, the other important personality on our guests list includes a revered minister of the gospel, Arch-Bishop Isaac Idahosa, who also the vice presidential candidate of the NNPP,” Ifetayo said.

The chairman also revealed that other outstanding Nigerians also lined up as confirmed panelists expected in order to have a robust discussion include Dr. Cynthia Greg, Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu, Erelu Okin, the Commandant-General, Nigeria Security And Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the chairman of House Committee on Education at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon and the general manager of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, Bolaji Oreagba.

Others are the editor of BusinessDay newspaper, Zebulon Agomuo, former commissioner of Information in Edo State Prince Kassim Afegbua, the chairmen of Bariga Local Council Development Area and Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area respectively, Alabi Kolade David and Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat.

Ifetayo, therefore, called on media practitioners and the general public to be part of the history making event.

“We are hereby using this opportunity to invite the general public, particularly our colleagues in the media to join us on this national discourse. It is completely free.

“The issue of security concerns everyone, there is no way we can have a successful election if our security system is not looked into collectively. Electioneering matters is not just for politicians alone; we are all involved one way or the other.

“And as the 2023 election approaches, the people depend on the media for information. So come and let’s talk Nigeria,” the chairman concluded.
