Otunba Senator Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East in the Senate and governed Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, has formally opened the 25th anniversary celebration of the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF). He did so on Sunday, September 27, at a meeting with the foundation’s Local Government Managers in Sagamu.
The foundation is a humanitarian, non-governmental organisation that Otunba Senator Daniel established around the year 2000 in Ijebu Ode, guided by the mantra “Rekindling Hope”. It was set up as a non-partisan platform to fight poverty, support the vulnerable and help ordinary people stand on their own feet. In its early days, it became widely known for organising stakeholders’ summits and handing out sewing machines, grinding machines and farm equipment to struggling citizens.
Over the years, the foundation has stayed close to the people. It has offered free eye care, surgical missions and medical outreaches, and it has paid school fees for indigent students in tertiary institutions while helping children who are out of school. This year, to mark its silver jubilee, the foundation was restructured with Otunba Senator Daniel’s approval, and Local Government Managers were appointed across the nine local government areas of Ogun East so that its work can reach more communities.
At the Sagamu meeting, Otunba Senator Daniel charged the managers to make the anniversary count for the man on the street, urging them to work hard and serve their people with honesty.
The celebration comes with a full calendar of activities. The biggest is a free medical mission, organised with Sharing Hope Medical Mission from the United States. More than 50 doctors will treat over 15,000 patients, including major and minor surgeries, from 9 to 24 October 2026 at Redeemers Health Village, Mowe. Local health workers will also be trained and given approved certificates that can help them secure jobs abroad.
Farmers will receive farm inputs, fertiliser and training, while students will get educational materials. Market women and men will benefit from a microcredit scheme that offers small loans to grow their trade.
At the event, dozens of vehicles were handed to the Local Government Managers. The vehicles carried pictures of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Otunba Senator Daniel openly declared support for the President’s re-election in 2027.
After 25 years, the Gateway Front Foundation is saying it plainly; its work is still about health, farming, education and small business, and it is standing firmly behind the President.
