Ifeanyi Izeze, a founding member of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media team, has died.
The Atiku media office confirmed the passing on Sunday, noting that the former Vice President and his team are mourning the loss.
Izeze joined Atiku’s media team in 2006 as Office Manager, transitioning from his role at Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot-Abasi. His extensive experience in media, as well as his knowledge of the Niger Delta and Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, made him a key contributor during a crucial period in Atiku’s political career.
Trained as a geologist at the University of Port Harcourt, Izeze later carved a niche in journalism, reporting extensively on the oil and gas industry for publications including Sunray, Anchor, and NewAge newspapers before joining ALSCON.
Within the Atiku Media Office, he played a pivotal role as a senior member and pioneer Office Manager, helping shape campaign strategies, particularly in the Niger Delta’s oil and gas sector.
Known for his sharp sense of humor and deep faith as a born-again Christian with Christ Embassy, Izeze was also an ordained preacher in the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
He is survived by children, grandchildren, and his elder brother, Pastor Emeka Izeze, associated with Guardian Newspapers. Details of his burial will be shared by the family.
“May God grant Ifeanyi’s soul eternal rest and provide comfort to his loved ones,” the statement concluded.
