The Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, has destroyed two suspected bandit camps in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state.
The operation was carried out over the weekend following intelligence provided by residents about suspected bandit activities around Durum and Danguzuri, extending towards the Kaduna-Kano boundary.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement, saying the joint security team launched a clearance operation after receiving credible information from members of the affected communities.
According to Hassan, the operation uncovered and destroyed two structures allegedly used by the criminals as hideouts, including locations where abducted victims were reportedly kept.
The structures were identified at Rugar Mijin Goggo and Unguwar Maryamu in Danguzuri.
The police said the operation was aimed at disrupting the activities of bandits and preventing criminal elements from using the area as a base for attacks and abductions.
The Command added that security personnel had intensified patrols in the affected areas to prevent the suspected criminals from regrouping or launching further attacks.
It said calm had returned to the communities following the operation, with security personnel maintaining a strong presence in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended residents for providing information that helped security operatives locate the suspected camps.
He also praised the officers and other security personnel involved in the operation for their bravery and dedication.
Muhammad assured residents that the Command would continue its operations against banditry and other criminal activities across Kaduna State.
The police urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that cooperation between communities and security personnel remains vital to combating insecurity and protecting lives and property.
