Nigerian street pop artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has confirmed receiving N40 million as a signing fee ahead of his much-anticipated celebrity boxing match against popular content creator and streamer Odahohwo Joseph Efe, widely known as Carter Efe. The bout is scheduled to hold in Lagos on February 26, 2026.
Portable made the announcement himself in a video posted to his official Instagram page, stating that the organisers transferred the funds solely to lock in his participation.
“I have received N40 million from the organisers. They paid me the money just for accepting to fight Carter Efe. I’m very sure that I will defeat him,” the singer declared.
Beyond the signing fee, the financial stakes are climbing even higher. Music executive Soso Soberekon and business mogul Emeka Okonkwo, popularly called E-Money, have each pledged an additional N50 million plus a car to Portable should he emerge victorious. Soberekon had earlier gone public with a N50 million prize offer for the eventual winner, a move that poured fuel on an already blazing rivalry and sent anticipation soaring online.
Carter Efe, for his part, has made clear he is ready to rumble. In a video shared on his own social media page, the streamer called on organisers to nail down a fight date, signalling that his camp is locked in and preparing.
The matchup, which merges Nigeria’s music and digital entertainment worlds, has already ignited fierce debate across social media and shows every sign of becoming one of the country’s most talked-about celebrity spectacles in recent memory.
