Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has expressed frustration over what he describes as poor revenue from music streaming despite consistently releasing new songs.
In a recent video shared online, the “Zazu” hitmaker complained that his earnings from Apple Music remain very low, even though he drops new tracks almost every month and claims to have a growing international fan base.
He questioned why streams from listeners outside Nigeria, particularly in countries like the United States, are not translating into significant income.
Portable also made a public appeal to renowned music executive Don Jazzy, asking for guidance on how to increase his earnings from digital platforms.
According to him, the income he receives is split in multiple ways, leaving him with little to show for his efforts. He urged Don Jazzy to mentor him on better strategies for monetizing his music online.
The singer added that with proper guidance on streaming revenue, he believes he could rise to become one of the biggest artistes in Nigeria.
