The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Margaret Oguntala, has hailed the Federal Government for its strategic infrastructure investments, especially the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
She recently praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for showing visionary leadership by guaranteeing national connectivity and economic growth via key projects.
Speaking during an interview session at the commissioning of the project’s first section at Kilometre 8, Jakande Estate, Lagos, she advocated for total commitment to local content development.
Margaret urged the government to be intentional about its engagement of Nigerian professionals, materials, and innovations to execute projects that will strengthen national capacity and promote self-reliance.
She stated that the Nigerian Society of Engineers is prepared to aid national development by offering technical expertise and professional guidance to ensure infrastructure projects constantly meet global standards.
“The need to sustain momentum by initiating additional strategic projects across all geopolitical zones, focusing on economic inclusion and regional balance.
The Nigerian Society of Engineers is ready to support national development. The Society would continue to offer technical expertise and professional guidance to ensure infrastructure projects meet global standards of quality, safety, and sustainability,” she said.
Margaret also appealed to public institutions and private sector players to partake in advancing Nigeria’s infrastructure goals.
President Tinubu emphasised that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a key artery for trade, tourism, and national integration.
He concluded that the infrastructure under his Renewed Hope Agenda will lay the foundation for economic success and national unity.
“This project is more than just brick and mortar; it is a pathway to inclusion, cohesion, and opportunity for all Nigerians,” he added.
