The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced the sighting of the crescent moon for the commencement of Ramadan fasting.
In a broadcast on Friday, February 28, the Sultan, who is also the president of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said Saturday marks the beginning of Ramadan fasting for Muslims in the country.
“We got the information from Muslim leaders across the country and we accept the sighting of the moon accordingly,” the Sultan said.
Abubakar called on the entire Muslim community in the country to start the Ramadan fast on Monday following the teachings of Islam.
