Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dissolved the State Executive Council, ordering all commissioners and special advisers to vacate their positions with immediate effect.
The dissolution comes in the wake of a meeting between Governor Fubara, President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a statement released Thursday evening by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara instructed the affected officials to hand over their responsibilities to permanent secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
The statement did not provide details on the reasons behind the cabinet dissolution or the outcomes of the meeting with President Tinubu and Minister Wike.
No information has been released regarding when new appointments will be made or whether any of the dismissed officials will be reappointed.
