His Excellency, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, joined prominent leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries on Sunday, August 17, to celebrate the 5th Coronation Anniversary of Kabiyesi, HRH Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, Telade IV, the Alara of Ilara in Epe, Lagos State.
The event, held at the Alara’s palace in Ilara-Epe, was attended by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, former APC National Legal Adviser Barrister Babatunde Ogala, and several high-ranking traditional rulers. The celebration also served as an opportunity to highlight key infrastructural developments in the region, particularly the ongoing construction of a Naval Base in Ilara-Epe—a project facilitated by Senator Daniel in his capacity as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy.
In his remarks, Senator Daniel commended Oba Ogunsanwo for his leadership and contributions to the peace and progress of Ilara Kingdom. He also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the Naval Base, which is expected to enhance security and boost economic activities in the coastal region.
“The Naval Base project is a critical step in strengthening our national security and fostering maritime development in Epe and its environs,” Senator Daniel stated. “We will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure its successful delivery for the benefit of our people.”
The royal anniversary featured cultural displays, goodwill messages, and commendations for the Alara’s reign, with attendees praising his efforts in promoting unity and development in the kingdom.
