Senator Ned Nwoko has announced the commencement of admissions into the 2025/2026 academic session at the Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko.
He recently described the institution as a “national vision made manifest.”
Speaking via a press statement on his official Facebook page, the Senator and Chancellor of the university revealed that he is very proud of the progress that has been made with the institution.
According to him, the educational institution is the result of years of strategic planning, policy advocacy, and an unwavering dedication to youth empowerment via the synergy of education and sports.
The Sports University of Nigeria is the first of its kind in Nigeria as it offers different academic and athletic programmes.
“This university is more than an academic institution, it is the culmination of unwavering efforts to empower Nigeria’s youth through the fusion of education and athletic development,” he said.
The areas of study include Sports and High-Performance Disciplines like football, taekwondo, swimming, and golf, plus key courses in Mass Communication, Management, Social and Allied Health Sciences, General Sciences, and Architecture.
The Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, is set to admit students through Diploma, Certificate, and Direct Entry programmes, guaranteeing inclusivity and access to educational and professional advancement.
What makes this educational institution stand out is its requirement for all students to participate in compulsory physical training under Category A.
According to Senator Nwoko, the approach will help to foster discipline, commitment and excellence, qualities that are vital for success on and off the field.
