Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has shared a very important warning to Nigerians who never stop chasing clout.
She recently revealed that while going viral is cool, people should learn not to lose themselves to make it happen.
Speaking via her social media page, the actress revealed that it is very easy to become an internet sensation in today’s attention-hungry world, but the real question is at what cost?
According to her, these days, all you have to do is say or do something that is very abnormal, or insult a popular figure, or go naked, and such desperate actions can quickly trigger immense popularity online.
She, however, noted that it would be nothing but cheap popularity at the end of the day, and it really isn’t worth trading your values for.
“Just say or do something out of the norm… insult someone important or go nude… so easy, so desperate, so cheap.
What are you willing to trade for it? Your values? Your morals? Your conscience? Your mind?” she wrote.
Emphasising the fulfilment that comes with taking the longer and harder road to lasting impact, the movie star urged her followers to prioritise hard work and diligence over shortcuts that will jeopardise their integrity.
She then warned those who are currently trading their conscience online for quick fame to think twice about their actions, stressing that harsh consequences will always lie ahead on that path.
“Stop! Before becoming slaves to the algorithm. Think again,” she added.
