Retired NFL star Jason Kelce has reacted to his younger brother, Travis Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift. He recently opened up about how Swift has made more girls interested in sports, and fans have been reacting.
Speaking during a special bonus episode of his and Travis’ podcast, “New Heights,” Jason hailed the “So High School” crooner’s impact on female viewership in the NFL.
According to him, he has heard both fathers and daughters talk about how their interest in the NFL increased mainly because of Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis.
“You just mentioned Taylor and how much she’s gotten girls into the sport and dads and daughters together, which that’s one of the coolest things I get when people talk about Taylor and Travis and hearing from dads or hearing from daughters about that. It’s an awesome thing,” he said.
Sports journalist Charissa Thompson further weighed in on the subject, stressing that little girls never cared about watching football matches before the famous romance started.
Thompson noted that the trending clips of the couple on social media have helped to draw more eyes to the NFL.
“Those little girls that maybe didn’t have an interest in football and then sit down because it’s her.
Like, the commercials and the different little videos that you see that now all of a sudden the dads have a bond with their daughter over her, like, is so special,” Thompson noted.
Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews have a long history with the Kelce brothers and even played a part in Travis and Swift’s romance.
After Travis publicly shot his shot at Swift on “New Heights” after attending her Kansas City, Mo., Eras Tour show, the two sports broadcasters urged the musician to give the football player a chance.
“Taylor I don’t know what you are doing in your life right now besides rocking the world. Please try our friend Travis. He is fantastic. Go on a date with this guy. Do it for America,” Andrews added.
