Popular Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, a.k.a Kcee, has shared the mindset that has sustained his long and consistent career. He recently revealed that it is hard to stay relevant in the highly competitive Nigerian music industry.
Speaking on an episode of the Selah Meditate podcast, Kcee disclosed that his key to longevity has been his refusal to be discouraged by career setbacks.
According to him, rather than give up when a track does not become a hit, he focuses on increasing his output to ensure the fans get what they want consistently.
He stated that, unlike some colleagues who go back into their shells when a song fails, he understands that success often requires persistence.
“I can drop 22 songs, maybe it is the 25th one that will become a hit. I don’t care because consistency is key,” he said.
The “Limpopo” crooner further noted that despite the struggles and difficult times he has faced in the music industry, they often go unnoticed because he maintains a flamboyant public appearance regardless of his situation.
Kcee concluded by saying that he and his brother are living proof of the power of positive manifestation.
“When me and E-Money were living in Ajegunle, if you asked us where we are living, we will say Ikeja. And we were not lying or pretending, we were dreaming, prophesying into the future.
And that was where we eventually moved to. And we dominated it,” he added.
