Dufil Prima Foods has kicked off the search for Nigeria’s most inspiring young minds, officially opening nominations for the 18th Indomie Heroes Awards and for the first time, the net has been cast a little wider.
Children aged up to 16 are now eligible for consideration, a bump from the previous cut-off of 15, meaning no young achiever need be left out on a technicality. Nominations are open to submissions from parents, guardians, teachers, and community leaders nationwide, with a deadline set for June 2026. Those selected will be celebrated at a formal awards ceremony in October.
The programme, which has been running since 2008, was built on a straightforward conviction: that heroism is not the exclusive preserve of adults. Over nearly two decades, it has shone a light on children who pulled people from danger, challenged injustice, lifted up the vulnerable around them, and dreamed up solutions to problems that stumped their elders. Winners don’t just receive recognition — they leave with scholarships worth millions of naira, a tangible commitment to keeping their momentum going.
Temitope Ashiwaju, who oversees corporate communications at Dufil Prima Foods, said the decision to open nominations earlier this year was deliberate — giving communities across the country enough time to identify and champion the children in their midst who deserve to be seen.
Eighteen editions in, the Indomie Heroes Awards remains one of Nigeria’s most enduring tributes to the idea that the country’s future is already being shaped, quietly and powerfully, by its children.
