The National Coordinator of the South-South Elders Forum, Anabs Sara-Igbe, has said that Rivers people are happy about Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to office. He recently revealed that the state was at a complete standstill during his six-month absence under President Bola Tinubu’s emergency rule.
Speaking during an interview with Arise News on Thursday, Sara-Igbe shared that Rivers people are eager to see their governor resume his duties after months of political distress.
According to him, ever since Fubara left office, nothing has moved forward in Rivers State, hence the high anticipation for his long-awaited return.
“Most people are so excited to see their governor, because since he left, everything came to a standstill.
If we’re talking of Mr Project (Fubara), he has projects across the whole state. There’s no local government that he has not had projects running for. But since the past six months, everything came to a halt,” he said.
He further advised the Rivers State House of Assembly not to be hostile as Fubara returns to office.
Sara-Igbe concluded by saying that both the executive and the legislature must work together henceforth in the interest of the state.
“We believe that both parties have learned their lessons. What we want is peace and harmony. The governor cannot be stampeded into announcing commissioners immediately. He needs to settle down, review the situation, and then decide on his team.
Whatever has happened, has happened and gone. This is the era of peace and teamwork. We need to work as a team to bring development to the state.
What we need in Rivers State now is how the state will move forward. There should be teamwork, mutual understanding, and trust among leaders.
We are happy our governor is back. The past era is gone. What we want now is peace, unity, and development,” he added.
