The All Progressives Congress, APC, has blasted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after his claims of irregularities in Saturday’s Rivers State local government elections.
The APC recently described the accusation as baseless and reckless, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Reacting via a press statement, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, accused Atiku of trying to trigger unrest after “another miserable no-show” by his African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Saturday’s polls.
According to him, Atiku and his party clearly planned to cause unrest over the Rivers local government election, but the people of Rivers State will not fall for their tricks.
He stated that APC trusts Rivers indigenes to ignore the unwise words of a disgruntled serial presidential contender.
“Atiku’s tirade is no more than a smokescreen meant to stoke tension and strife over the Rivers local government election. We trust Rivers people to reject his incitement to instability as the unwise counsel of a forlorn serial presidential contender,” he said.
Felix Morka further noted that the irresponsible rhetoric from Atiku will not change the will of Rivers people.
He concluded by saying that the APC won 20 out of the 23 chairmanship seats contested, and it was a well-deserved victory.
