Popular Afrobeats singer Ayo Maff has said that his collaboration with Fireboy was the turning point for his music career.
He recently shared that he wouldn’t be where he is today without the “Iseoluwa” crooner.
Speaking during an interview on Trending, he declared that Fireboy’s verse on “Dealer remix” skyrocketed the song and made the track more recognized in the Nigerian music industry.
The artist noted that he desperately needed a collaboration with an established singer to explore “Dealer” further, and Fireboy came through to deliver the exact finishing touch that the song was craving.
“Without Fireboy, there will be no Ayo Maff because he gave me that thing I want. So thank God and thank you to Fireboy,”
According to him, he didn’t even expect the YBNL singer to jump on his tune, and the events that led to the collaboration were very surprising at the time.
The song eventually brought Ayo Maff mainstream success, earning him a nomination for the “Headies Next Rated” award.
Ayo Maff has since performed at the O2 Arena, where he opened for Afrobeats Grammy-nominated superstar, Asake.
Asked how he felt after performing at the prestigious venue, he replied that climbing the stage at the 02 Arena was a moment he had imagined several times before it eventually happened.
Ayo Maff, who was recently shortlisted by Spotify as one of the stars to look out for in 2025 is gearing up for the release of his debut LP, which he calls “The Prince of The Street.”
