President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has committed his re-election ambition to Almighty Allah, praying for wisdom, strength and resilience as he seeks to continue leading Nigeria.

The President made this known during his visit to the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he performed Umrah, the lesser Hajj, before concluding his five-day visit to the Kingdom.

Tinubu, who held and kissed the Al-Hajar al-Aswad, popularly known as the Black Stone, also offered prayers of gratitude to Allah for giving him the opportunity to serve as Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

He said he prayed for the wisdom and strength needed to continue serving Nigerians, expressing confidence that his prayers would be answered.

According to the President, he made a similar prayer before the 2023 general election and promised to return to the Holy Land to express gratitude if his prayer was answered.

Tinubu also reflected on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, particularly Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26, which states that Almighty Allah gives power and authority to whoever He wishes and can take them away at His discretion.

He stressed that political power is a responsibility that must be exercised with humility and in the interest of the people, adding that no position of authority is permanent.

The President expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation the rare opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’abah and offer prayers.

He described the experience as a historic and memorable spiritual privilege, noting that it reflected the strong relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

Tinubu also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic outlook, insisting that the country had emerged from a difficult period.

He said the foundation of the economy was solid and described the progress recorded as encouraging.

The President further reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, investing in young people and creating opportunities for future generations.

He maintained that his administration would continue pursuing policies and programmes aimed at promoting economic growth, national development and shared prosperity.

Tinubu also urged Nigerians to put their faith in Allah, follow their conscience and remain committed to the right path towards national greatness.

Earlier, the President announced on his official X account that he had concluded his visit to Saudi Arabia, explaining that he used the opportunity to pray for peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has criticised Tinubu’s claim that Nigeria’s economy has emerged from the dark tunnel.

The campaign organisation described the President’s assessment as misleading, arguing that economic hardship, unemployment, insecurity and rising living costs continued to affect millions of Nigerians.

Its Director of Strategic Communication, Richard Ihediuwa, alleged that businesses were shutting down because of the impact of government policies and taxation.

The organisation also claimed that more than 60 million Nigerians were facing severe food insecurity, while fuel prices and the cost of living remained high.

It further questioned the country’s rising debt profile, accusing the Tinubu administration of borrowing heavily without sufficient evidence of corresponding investments.

The campaign group argued that the President’s comments did not reflect the economic realities confronting ordinary Nigerians.

In another development, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-East zone, alongside Hausa and Yoruba community leaders in Ebonyi State, have endorsed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement was announced during a town hall meeting in Abakaliki organised by the Directorate of Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

The President of the Christian Fellowship of Nigeria (CFN), South-East zone, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, commended Tinubu and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for what he described as infrastructure development in the region.

Nwali urged residents of the South-East to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in appreciation of the administration’s efforts in the region.

Other Christian leaders, including Uche Charity Ujunwa and Peter Onyeabor, also expressed support for the President, with Onyeabor assuring that Christian youths in the region would mobilise behind his candidacy.
