President Bola Tinubu has commended Senator Abubakar Kyari, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, following his election as Chairperson of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Governing Council.
Senator Kyari was unanimously elected on Tuesday to lead IFAD’s 49th Governing Council, the organisation’s highest decision-making body.
Responding to the development, President Tinubu described the election as “a confidence vote” in the minister’s competence and the agricultural reforms he is driving in Nigeria.
“I have confidence that Senator Kyari will give IFAD the right leadership and deepen its relevance and impact, especially at a time of global food security crises,” the President stated.
President Tinubu extended his best wishes to Senator Kyari for a successful and impactful tenure in his new role.
