President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held in Gombe State on Saturday, securing a total of 450,517 votes.
His only rival in the contest, Stanley Osifo, failed to win a single vote across the state’s 11 local government areas.
The results were announced at the APC collation centre by Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who served as the coordinator of the exercise.
Speaking during the collation process, Yahaya stated that the figures were submitted by electoral officers from all the local government areas in the state. He noted that the primary election was conducted peacefully and followed the party’s guidelines.
According to him, the outcome of the exercise would be forwarded to Abuja for the final collation and official declaration by the APC national leadership.
A breakdown of the results showed that Tinubu polled 5,873 votes in Akko, 23,307 in Balanga, and 23,675 in Billiri.
He also secured 24,964 votes in Dukku, 22,761 in Funakaye, and recorded the highest figure in Gombe Local Government Area with 112,414 votes.
Further results showed that Tinubu garnered 22,998 votes in Kaltungo, 25,305 in Kwami, and 21,388 in Nafada. He also received 12,765 votes in Shongom, while Yamaltu/Deba delivered 75,067 votes.
Governor Yahaya disclosed that Gombe State has 550,516 registered APC members and commended party officials, delegates, and members for maintaining peace and demonstrating commitment throughout the primary process.
