TOTALEnergies (50%), in partnership with QatarEnergy (35%) and the Republic of Congo’s national oil company SNPC (15%), has successfully obtained the Nziombo exploration permit, marking a significant expansion of TOTALEnergies’ offshore exploration portfolio in West Africa.
The newly awarded Nziombo permit spans 1,600 square kilometres in waters located 100 kilometres offshore from Pointe-Noire. The strategic positioning of this TOTALEnergies-operated block provides synergistic opportunities, situated in close proximity to the company’s existing Moho production facilities operated by TOTALEnergies EP Congo.
Under the exploration program, TOTALEnergies and its partners have committed to drilling one exploration well at the material Nziombo prospect, with operations scheduled to commence before the end of 2025.
“This award of a promising exploration permit, with the material Nziombo prospect, reflects our continued strategy of expanding our exploration portfolio with high-impact prospects, which can be developed leveraging our existing facilities, and confirms our longstanding partnership with the Republic of the Congo,” commented Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice-President Exploration at TOTALEnergies.
The Nziombo permit award reinforces TOTALEnergies’ commitment to high-impact exploration activities while leveraging existing infrastructure to optimize development potential in the Republic of Congo’s offshore waters.
