Two people died in a serious traffic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Ogun State, earlier today. British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua was among those involved in the collision and survived with minor injuries.
The incident occurred when a Lexus SUV bearing registration number KRD 850 HN collided with a stationary truck near the Danco Filling Station. According to witnesses at the scene, two fatalities were confirmed immediately following the crash.
Emergency responders extracted Joshua from the damaged vehicle. Medical officials at the scene reported that the athlete sustained only minor injuries in the accident.
Adeniyi Orojo, a member of the rescue team, briefed reporters on the initial findings. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
The news has prompted an outpouring of sympathy on social media, with supporters expressing relief at Joshua’s survival while mourning the loss of life. TRACE Commandant Akinbiyi Babatunde was not available for official comment at the time of publication.
