Customers of United Bank for Africa (UBA) have expressed frustration after being unable to access the bank’s mobile application and carry out transactions.
Several customers took to social media platform X to complain that the UBA app had reportedly remained inaccessible for more than 24 hours, with some users claiming the disruption began on Sunday.
The reported outage has affected customers who rely heavily on the application for transfers, balance checks, payments and other banking services.
Some affected users said they had been forced to rely on alternative channels, including ATM cards, USSD services and visits to UBA branches, to access their funds and complete transactions.
The recurring nature of the reported disruption has also raised concerns among some customers, who claimed that the bank’s mobile application had experienced similar problems several times in recent months.
Customers expressed disappointment that the reported outage occurred without what they described as adequate communication from the bank.
One customer, @FalolaOpeyemi5, complained that the application had been inaccessible for more than 24 hours, questioning why a major financial institution would continue to experience problems with its mobile banking platform.
Another user, @HoshOdyssey, wrote that the outage had lasted more than 24 hours and expressed concern about being unable to access funds through the application.
Similarly, @LTFBWU appealed to the bank to restore the service, saying, “UBA Abegggg Make I no crash out because of una abeggg, You wan lock me away from my money?”
Another customer, @Gigi_SaidWhat, appealed to UBA’s customer-care team, asking why the application had stopped working and expressing concern about being unable to access money.
@Amaray252 claimed that the app had been unavailable for three days and said attempts to access it using different mobile networks, including MTN, Glo and Airtel, had failed.
Another user, @iam__temmyyy, said the disruption had prevented them from using their money to buy food, urging the bank to resolve the problem.
Some customers also complained about the lack of an immediate explanation, calling on UBA to provide information about the cause of the outage and when the application would be fully restored.
As of the time of filing this report, UBA had not publicly explained the cause of the reported disruption or announced when normal access to the mobile application would resume.
The development has left many customers seeking urgent clarification from the bank while relying on alternative channels to carry out their banking transactions.
