The UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility division of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has completed a major humanitarian initiative across 20 African countries, distributing essential supplies valued at millions of naira and dollars to vulnerable populations.

Running from November 2025 through January 2026, the Foundation’s Food Bank and Giving Back program reached more than 100,000 people across communities where UBA operates. The initiative provided essential items and financial assistance to schoolchildren, orphanages, internally displaced persons camps, and economically disadvantaged communities, helping to ease the financial pressures typically experienced during the year-end period and early months of the new year.

In Nigeria, the outreach spanned all regions of the country, benefiting numerous institutions including the Daughter of Mercy Mother of Mary Orphanage Home in Abia, the Trinitarian Foundation for Orphans and the Helpless in Ebonyi, The Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation in Oyo, Itsoghena Orphanage Home in Edo, Enoima Children Home in Akwa Ibom, Yekope Orphanage in Kogi, IDP camps in Niger and Borno states, UMCN Orphanage Home in Taraba, Kebbi Children’s Home, and the Orphanage Home in Dutse, Jigawa.

Beyond Nigeria, the Foundation extended similar support to communities in Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Congo DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, impacting hundreds of thousands of additional beneficiaries.

Bola Atta, Managing Director/CEO of UBA Foundation, personally visited several beneficiary sites including The Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, where she distributed non-perishable food items and educational materials to both adults and students. During her visits, Atta emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to year-round community impact that transcends geographical and economic boundaries.

“At UBA Foundation, we believe that true development begins with compassion and action. Through our various Food Bank and Giving Back initiatives, we are not only providing nourishment and essential support, but also restoring hope and creating pathways for children and families to learn, grow, and thrive. This is our commitment to Africa: to show up consistently, act responsibly, and leave no community behind,” Atta stated.

She further explained that the interventions are designed to provide comprehensive support: “Our various interventions aim to support people by equipping them not only with the right tools but also with the essential nourishment required for cognitive development and physical well-being.”

The Foundation maintains an extensive portfolio of philanthropic programs throughout Africa, including the National Essay Competition, The Read Africa Project, Tree Planting for Sustainability, Health Outreaches, Each1 Teach 1, Kindness Connect, and Food Bank initiatives, all focused on empowering underserved populations and reducing poverty.

As the CSR arm of UBA Group, UBA Foundation remains dedicated to advancing socio-economic development in communities where the bank operates, with particular emphasis on education, environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, and special community projects.
