The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that every financial instruction in the country is held to strict regulatory requirements.
CBN recently revealed that the Nigerian banking sector remains resilient and secure despite some reports saying otherwise.
Speaking via a press statement, CBN stated that there is no cause for concern regarding the safety of depositors’ funds across the country, and misleading reports saying otherwise should be disregarded.
The Central Bank of Nigeria confirmed that it is constantly tracking the activities of all financial institutions under its regulatory purview, and it is always on high alert when its clearly stated rules are breached.
The apex bank reiterated its readiness to quickly address any emerging issues in the country’s banking sector to preserve the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
“The Bank affirms that it continues to monitor all financial institutions under its regulatory purview and maintains robust frameworks for early warning signals and risk-based supervision. These mechanisms ensure that any emerging issues are promptly addressed to protect the integrity of the financial system,” it read.
CBN further noted that it remains resolute in its quest to guarantee a safe banking environment where depositors can be absolutely sure that their funds are safe at all times.
It maintained that protecting the financial interests of every Nigerian and stakeholder remains its priority, and it will remain that way for a very long time.
“The CBN remains dedicated to fostering a secure banking environment where depositors can be fully confident in the safety of their funds. It will continue to monitor and adapt strategies to safeguard the financial interests of all Nigerians and stakeholders in our financial system,” it added.
