Wema Bank, Nigeria’s pioneering innovative financial institution and creator of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT, has announced the Top 20 finalists advancing to the grand finale of Hackaholics 6.0 following a competitive two-day pre-pitch event held on December 16-17, 2025.
The finalists comprise 10 teams each from the Hackathon and Ideathon streams. Hackathon qualifiers include Rapid DEV, Secure IT, Neurafeed, Trust Lock Babcock, Pulse Track, IlluminiTrust, Trust Lock FUTA, Fix Fraud AI, KASH Flow, and VOC AI. The Ideathon finalists are PLOY, Fertitude, VarsityScape, Mama ALERT, StockMed, Chao, All Arbitrate, FarmSlate, Sane AI, and Cycle X.
Speaking about the innovative dual-stream format introduced for this year’s competition, Moruf Oseni, Wema Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, explained: “Hackaholics 6.0 represents an evolution in our approach to innovation. We’ve created opportunities for both builders of new solutions and those refining existing ones to make meaningful impact. Innovation isn’t always about starting from scratch—sometimes it’s about optimizing what already exists to create greater efficiency.”
Oseni highlighted the competition’s impressive reach, noting: “We toured seven cities, engaged 1,460 participants, and discovered hundreds of remarkable ideas. Every year, Hackaholics demonstrates the incredible creativity and drive of Nigerian youth. We’re honored to provide the platform and resources to channel this energy productively.”
The pre-pitch competition saw 43 shortlisted contenders present their solutions in an intense showcase of innovation and problem-solving before the Top 20 emerged victorious.
Set for December 19, 2025, the grand finale will bring together leading figures from Africa’s tech and innovation ecosystem, offering finalists exposure to potential investors and funding opportunities beyond the competition prizes.
Prize packages are substantial: Ideathon winners will receive N25 million (first place), N20 million (first runner-up), N15 million (second runner-up), plus N5 million each for two women-led teams. Hackathon prizes range from N20 million for first place down to N5 million for fourth place.
The grand finale will be livestreamed on Wema Bank’s official YouTube channel (@Wema Bank), with updates available on social media using #Hackaholics6.
