Blessing Ezeokafor, first child of kidnapped businessman and Jezco Group chairman, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, has accused her younger brother, Eberechukwu Ezeokafor, popularly known as Jowizaza, of worsening the family’s ordeal following their father’s abduction.
Blessing made the allegations in a series of social media posts while pleading for her father’s release.
She claimed her brother’s flashy lifestyle and public displays of wealth gave the impression that the family was sitting on huge financial resources, a perception she believes influenced the kidnappers to inflate their ransom demand.
₦700m Ransom Rose to ₦1.5bn
According to Blessing, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦700 million, which was later raised to ₦1.5 billion. She insisted the family could not raise such a sum, as they were already grappling with heavy debts.
She also accused Jowizaza of mismanaging their father’s business in the past, claiming he was eventually stripped of his director position and placed on a ₦1 million monthly salary. Despite his online image of wealth, she alleged, he does not have up to ₦100 million readily accessible.
Blessing questioned how her brother could allow kidnappers to believe the family could pay ₦700 million when they were already struggling with bank debts.
“You Are the Cause of This Madness” – Blessing
In her post, she wrote: “Why Jowizaza my brother? You are the cause of this madness. Social media noise, when we don’t have that money. You use audio money to make hoodlums think the money is available.”
She continued: “Imagine, ₦1 billion? If anything happens to my dad, I will hold you responsible. Making noise, when we are owing bank ₦40 billion. And these people think the money is there, see what your madness exposing has done to us.”
Blessing further disclosed that the family owes FCMB ₦40 billion with no hope of repayment, in addition to debts owed to Union Bank. She said even an American company she introduced to the family, Feedco, has not changed their financial struggles.
“Kidnappers, they don’t have money, it is audio money, please leave my dad alone. Please release him, they are swimming in debt,” she pleaded.
“Coming to Facebook Was His Biggest Mistake”
Blessing added that she was compelled to speak out despite pressure from some quarters urging her silence, saying she needed the kidnappers to understand the family’s actual financial reality so a realistic ransom could be discussed.
She stressed that her father urgently needs his medication and appealed for his safety.
“See, coming to Facebook was the biggest mistake my brother made. We have a simple life, not exaggerating wealth. Any blogger that I see exaggerating our wealth again will have questions to answer,” she warned.
