Nigerian human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has come out to question Peter Obi’s one-term vow ahead of the 2027 general election.
Recall that Obi recently reaffirmed his pledge to serve for four years if elected president in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Falana simply rebuked Obi’s promise, saying it is not enough to convince the masses to vote for him.
According to him, presidential aspirants should learn to elaborate on what they actually intend to do when they assume the highest position in the land.
He stated that the length of their stay in power doesn’t solve anything if nothing is achieved at the end of the day.
“Another problem confronting Nigeria as a nation, it is not just enough to say I will be in power for four years. I will be in power for eight years, what do you want to do there?” he said.
Falana further urged the Federal Government to concentrate on involving the people in its several policies.
The SAN concluded by saying that waking up to rename Nigerian streets is a clear lack of respect for the people.
“As for those who are in power, you have a greater responsibility to concentrate on governance and consult with the people with respect to your policies, so that nobody wakes up one day and say I am going to rename the streets,” he added.
