The duo, Miracle Takumo and Sime Patrick have emerged as co-winners in the second installment of the Arts for Change competition, themed ‘Nigeria of my dreams.’ The announcement was made on Wednesday in Lagos during the grand finale by Steve Ayorinde, the former commissioner for Arts and Tourism. Ayorinde emphasized that the panel of judges rigorously ensured that the artists not only presented their works but also produced them, enforcing this criterion to maintain the integrity of the competition.

Imole Oyebamidele and Ibitoye Emmanuel secured the positions of first and second runners-up, respectively. Abolore Shobayo, a judge, praised the overall quality of the artworks, detailing the three criteria used for evaluation: a solid interpretation of the concept, creativity, and the quality of artistic expression.
Loye Amzat, the facilitator of the Arts for Change competition, expressed satisfaction with the event’s progression since its inaugural edition held at Freedom Park last year, which carried a prize of 500,000. Amzat extended gratitude to sponsors, including the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), First Bank, GoBet247, and others, for their support in recognizing and rewarding the creative talents of young individuals.
Amzat explained, “The Arts for Change competition was conceived to identify and reward talents among our youths.” He highlighted that last year’s theme was “Nigeria, Stronger Together,” with over 300 artists participating, and this year’s theme focused on the “Nigeria of my dreams.”
Duke Asidionye, an advocate for the arts, emphasized the importance of youth looking beyond politicians and actively contributing to the country’s improvement through innovative endeavors. He encouraged young people to channel their creative abilities towards building a new and better nation.
