In the committee’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the legislative and defense sectors, Senator Gbenga Daniel recently led a delegation on an oversight visit to the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Lagos on Monday, November 20.
The delegation, comprising committee members, embarked on this crucial visit to evaluate the operations, challenges, and achievements of the Nigerian Navy. The Western Naval Command HQ, situated in Apapa, Lagos, holds jurisdiction over the sea and coastal areas extending from the Nigeria/Benin border at Long 002o 49′ E to Long 006o E in Delta State, covering the nation’s coastline to the limit of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The interactive sessions during the oversight visit aimed to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the Navy’s needs, emphasizing the committee’s dedication to ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of Nigeria’s naval operations.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Naval Dockyard Limited (NDL), a prominent shipbuilding and fabrication yard in Nigeria.
