A hotel worker, identified as Joseph Terdoo, has died following an alleged physical confrontation with a tiler engaged by the hotel in the Utako District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred in Room 301 of the hotel in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after a disagreement between Terdoo and the tiler, identified as Samuel Net, allegedly escalated into violence.
The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh.
According to the police, officers received information about suspicious noises and activities on the hotel’s third floor at about 5 a.m. They immediately proceeded to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, the officers reportedly found Net with visible marks of violence on his body, while Terdoo was discovered lying unconscious on the floor with multiple marks of violence.
Terdoo was immediately taken to Wuse District Hospital for medical attention. However, medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that the disagreement between the two men had developed into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, Net allegedly pushed Terdoo, causing him to fall and hit his head against a wooden object.
The impact reportedly left Terdoo unconscious, and he later died from the incident.
The police said a discreet investigation had commenced to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and establish what led to the fatal confrontation.
The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence and refrain from taking the law into their own hands when resolving disagreements.
Sanusi advised members of the public to adopt peaceful and diplomatic approaches to settling disputes, stressing the need to prevent avoidable loss of life.
The command also encouraged residents to report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
Members of the public were further advised to contact the FCT Police Command through its emergency telephone lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
The police said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
