Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has called for the release of TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as SeaKing, during the church’s February Holy Ghost service held in Ogun State.
In a viral video from Friday’s service at the church’s 3km by 3km auditorium in Simawa, Adeboye denied any involvement in SeaKing’s arrest. He explained that some individuals, offended by the TikToker’s comments, had initiated the arrest. Referencing his prophecies for the year, Adeboye noted that critics of divine matters would become more outspoken.
“God told us at the beginning of this year that mockers will be more active, they would become bolder, even hot,” Adeboye stated. “I heard that there is someone who lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him to.” He added, “I was told that some people are so angry and they went and arrested him. Release him! He is fulfilling prophecy.”
SeaKing’s legal troubles began in December 2024 when he was first arrested for posting a video criticizing President Bola Tinubu, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and IGP Kayode Egbetokun. He faced charges of treason, cyberstalking, and conduct likely to cause public disorder. Though granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties, he was re-arrested during a court appearance on Thursday and transferred to Abuja.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who visited SeaKing in Abuja police custody on Friday, revealed that the arrest stemmed from a petition by Paul Adama, using the name of a Christian association connected to FPRO Adejobi Olumuyiwa. The petition, allegedly filed on behalf of Pastor Adeboye, accused SeaKing of cyberbullying during a December live session.
